Assuming collection and treatment of WEEE (and waste portable batteries) from several places in Denmark is a very challenging task in terms of administration, logistics and communication.
Therefore, producers selling products to private households may subscribe to a collective scheme. A collective scheme offers to producers to carry out, among others, the take-back obligation against payment. The recovery of WEEE generates revenues, so it is recommended that the producer negotiates with the collective schemes when entering a membership agreement.
Some individual compliers may have such a small market share that they cannot be obliged to collect WEEE from the municipal collection sites. Every year in connection with the allocation each individual complier will be informed whether the quantities reported in the previous year are of a magnitude that entails a duty to collect from municipal collection sites.
