A municipal collection site is generally what citizens refer to as recycling centres or civic amenity sites. WEEE must be collected and separated in at least five fractions at the collection sites.
From here producers and importers or their collective schemes collect WEEE from households.
The local authority must register their collection sites with, among other things, contact information and number and type of requested collection equipment. This is done on the website of DPA-System. Registration of a collection site is a precondition for having WEEE collected by producers or their collective schemes.
Information entered on the DPA-System website is used for practical planning of collection of WEEE from the collection sites.
The local authority can establish and discontinue sites or change requests concerning a collection site. Changes have a notice of one month.
The local authority must collect and separate WEEE in at least five fractions. It is possible to depart from this requirement if both the local authority and the producer/the collective scheme agree and if the agreement is within the framework of the allocation.
Each collective scheme must as a minimum have one reception centre per region for reception of large quantities of WEEE. The centres must not necessarily have fixed opening hours and they are not under the duty to be open to private householders. Access to these sites must be agreed with the collective scheme.
