What is the reported data used for? (BAT)

The general purpose of reporting is to allow the Danish Environmental Protection Agency to survey batteries and accumulators and associated waste streams. Also, reported data are used to check whether Denmark achieves EU objectives of recovery of waste batteries and accumulators.

The purpose of reporting and payment to SKAT is to cover costs incurred by local authorities relating to collection of portable batteries and accumulators from private households.

Quantities put on the market
Data on quantities of portable batteries and accumulators put on the market are used in DPA-System to calculate how large a proportion of portable batteries and accumulators collected by the local authorities each producer/importer is to take back and treat. This is the so-called allocation scheme.

Reported quantities of products put on the market are used to calculate the fee to be levied from each producer/importer.

Quantities taken back
Data on quantities taken back are used in DPA-System to readjust the allocation scheme for portable batteries and accumulators. For industrial and automotive batteries and accumulators data on quantities taken back are used to control how many waste batteries and accumulators are taken back compared with reported quantities put on the market.

Quantities treated
Data on quantities treated are used to control whether the producer/the importer has recycled sufficient shares of waste batteries and accumulators taken back compared with the rates stated in the Battery Order.
