Equipment destined for use at a voltage greater than 1,000 volts for alternating current or 1,500 volts for direct current is exempt from the WEEE Order and producer responsibility. The exemption applies to the input or output voltage of the equipment.
Some equipment contains components or internal functions with voltages exceeding the limits, such as a CRT television sets or electrical flyswatters. These internal high voltages are NOT relevant for the voltage limits. Therefore CRT TV sets or electrical flyswatters are not exempt from producer responsibility under this voltage exemption criterion.
