Producers

Producers and importers putting electrical equipment onto the market in Denmark must be registered with DPA-System.

Registration is part of the producer responsibility scheme requiring among others that producers and importers organize collection and environmentally correct treatment of WEEE. The task differs depending on the type of user – private or professional – and on the way the producer complies with his responsibility – through a collective scheme or as an individual complier.

It is NOT legal to market equipment covered by producer responsibility without being registered in the producer register at DPA-System.

Producer’s/importer’s own responsibility

Note that producers/importers are responsible themselves to clarify whether equipment sold is subject to producer responsibility. In case of doubt DPA-System will gladly assist.

When to register a business in Denmark

  1. Businesses importing and marketing electrical and electronic equipment where the final user is a private household or a business in Denmark.
  2. Foreign EU businesses exporting electrical and electronic equipment where the final user is a private household in Denmark, so-called distance sale.
  3. Businesses producing and marketing equipment in Denmark.

An importer in this context is a legal unit in Denmark importing equipment into Denmark. Electrical and electronic equipment is finished equipment, i.e. equipment in its final form.

Import for own use

Companies importing electrical and electronic products for professional and internal use in the company are subject to producer responsibility. However, the company is not subject to the duty to register since it also owns the product. Thus, the company has already the responsibility and costs for separate management of the product and subsequent WEEE.
