A distinction is made between three types of batteries and chemical substance groups:
|
Industrial batteries: |
Any battery or accumulator designed for exclusively industrial or professional uses or used as primary source of traction in any type of electric vehicle. Examples: Emergency or backup power supply at hospitals. Traction battery for electric vehicle, electric wheelchair. |
|
Automotive batteries: |
Any battery or accumulator used for automotive starter, lighting or ignition power and batteries/accumulators similar to starter batteries in form and size. Examples: Ignition battery for vehicles. Batteries suitable for providing current for ordinary use in i.e. caravans. |
|
Portable batteries: |
Any battery or accumulator that is sealed, has a weight that does not exceed 3 kg*, and is neither an industrial battery or accumulator nor an automotive battery or accumulator. Examples: All so-called consumer batteries (AA and AAA batteries, batteries in mobile phones and all other consumer equipment). |
*)The weight limit is based on a guideline from the Danish Working Environment Authority.
Know your type of batteryIt is important to clarify which type of batteries you produce or import since registration to be made under the producer responsibility scheme is based on this division. |
