Registration is part of the producer responsibility scheme requiring among others that producers and importers organize collection and environmentally correct reprocessing of waste batteries and accumulators. The task differs depending on the type of battery – portable, industrial or automotive – and on the way the producer complies with his responsibility – through a collective scheme or as an individual complier.
It is NOT legal to put equipment covered by producer responsibility on the market without being registered in DPA-System and, in relation to portable batteries, with the Danish Commerce and Companies Agency.
Companies importing batteries and accumulators for own use are only subject to product responsibility and do not have the registration obligation. Thus, the company owns the products and has the responsibility and costs for separate management of the products.
